Swaddling Your Baby

Your newborn baby just loves being snug, warm and secure. Create these lovely feelings through the age old technique that mothers have been using for centuries – the swaddle!

We understand that as a new mum your number one priority is to keep your bub safe and protected so we have put together a few of the main tips and benefits of swaddling for you!

These include:

Bub feeling warm and cozy, just like they are still in your womb
Once swaddled your baby will find it easier to sleep on their back – a position which is highly recommended in reducing the risk of SIDS
Babies will often wake themselves up during the night with sudden arm and leg movements and swaddling helps to stop this. Swaddling also holds bub nice and firmly in place reducing the risk of them moving into dangerous positions during the night, and, ultimately helping them to sleep longer.

Try this simple step-by-step guide to swaddling your baby:

Step 1: Lay the wrap flat and fold the top corner into a triangle then place your newborn baby in the centre with its head above the fold of the wrap.
Step 2: Take one corner of the wrap and place it snugly around your baby, tucking the excess in at the back.
Step 3: Fold the bottom of the wrap up and over your baby's feet.
Step 4: Lastly, fold the other side of the wrap around your baby, tucking the excess underneath. Be sure you smooth out any lumps in the fabric underneath your baby.
Now your baby is wrapped and secure!
